Really? Because what they are now is the polar opposite of what they were when they came out. So really, you hate everything, is what you're saying.
Also, this thread needs a reboot. It's making the new show seem really pathetic, which is awful since Seto Kaiba's ego pales in comparison to this show's awesomeness. Watch PONIES: The Anthology, and you will know why you need to watch Friendship is Magic. All. 26. Episodes. Last edited by KidsDR; 06-09-2011 at 02:38 PM. |

you'd understand if you watched it. It's by the same studio that did Dexter's Lab and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends. For us it's nostalgic on a whole new level. Also it's fricking amazing.

Tried watching it. Its mediocra; no better or worse than any other kidshow Ive seen in recent times. Theme song is catchy but thats about it.
Also, from the first episode they say that the 6th element is friendship is magic. THEREFORE BECAUSE THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS MAGIC THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS FRIENDSHIP IRL. STOP RUBBING IT IN OUR FACES PONIES |

Men weren't the intended target audience. Young girls had been the intended audience from the get go.

It'd really help this "case" if the main post of this page weren't so gory.

I thought the OP would be in violation of some rules somewhere (and no screwing them because you DON'T have the money to).
Me, I have no interest in the show itself (I couldn't possibly watch it for fear of cracking up with laughter), but the meme generated from it is quite interesting. |

Well, yes, there's that to but my main point is that men from 16+ weren't a specifically intended target.

Well, it is, and always will be a show targeted at little girls, because it's My Little Pony. There must have been some drastic change on the show to encourage men to watch it, and for it to become an internet meme. I wonder what that was...

Hmm, let me see how much I can explain.....
Well, it boils down to good old fashioned well thought out characterization, storytelling, and a good amount of comedy. When it comes down to it, it's in the same fashion as any other kids show that you could go and watch at any age and enjoy such as like Dexter's Lab and Powerpuff Girls. Most of the commotion comes just from the fact that it's MLP that's getting the treatment this time, a franchise that we all thought was ruined forever (not like there were any signs otherwise). A cuteness factor (that's probably a given considering the target audience, but there's also been a very positive change in animation using Flash) and the whole pony/magic setting lends to the popularity as well. Personally, I don't even consider this part of MLP because it's not like any of the other shows and the only thing they share are a few common character names. Think about it, if this were another kids show, maybe even the exact same show but with humans as all the characters, there'd be a significant difference in the response it's been getting, now wouldn't it?
