While we're on the topic, could someone please explain me what qualifies as a "furry" and why exactly they are called "furries" as opposed to Enter Proper Animal Name Here™?

'cause the term confuses the heck out of me (of course I know what the adjective "furry" means, but I have no idea how it applies as a noun), and frankly creeps me out to an extent.

Furries are pretty much a group of people who enjoy dressing up in animal costumes, mostly mascot costumes. It's also a fetish as some of them enjoy engaging in acts while in these costumes. They even have conventions now. Since Joey is dressed up in a big dog costume, once by Kaiba and then again by Duke Devlin, we call him a furry.

Anthro's on the other hand, are what is commonly seen in pictures as the animals who stand like humans, often with human type of hands and wearing clothes. However, the term Furry is also often used there too. In this case, the term Furry is the above one and not this one.

Edit** Most human animal cross overs are not referred to as furries unless they are more like the anthro's I mentioned above.

Wikipedia isn't exactly the first place I look for meanings of neologisms used by a subset of a group of devotees... Not exactly the kind of information you'd expect to find in an encyclopedia.

a furry in a nut shell is basically someone who takes a large interest in anthro art work but forces more on animal/human hybrid, most furries who an't yiffer are big art lovers you see, i enjoy distion as well
