and remember its a show/manga, things aren't always realistic in these
I mean in GX he sends yugioh cards into space because he thinks its a good idea to teach aliens how to play duel monsters and everyone thinks this is a fantastic idea this is a horrible idea-no one would do something so asinine IRL, but this is a show, not meant to be prodded and ripped apart to try and see meanings that aren't there |

how did he know that would happen? why did he think this was a good idea if there were aliens why would they play cardgames? that specific cardgame? what if they preferred magic the gathering?! |

This entire conversation is suddenly EXTREMELY relevant to my interests. And hilarious.

they excepted us to swallow alot in this show, but the original one was built around actual beliefs people had (all that ancient egypt stuff was real, obviously there were no giant monsters and stuff, I mean fuck the Gradius cards are based off the video game of the same name)
don't think they had dinosaurs there either (or penguins, or whatever Jinzo is) but its a neat concept that was interplayed with interesting history GX was- I don't even know, they really lost it with this alien stuff and Kaiba is truly insane for launching a Dandylion card into space for space aliens to find it to power them up sounds like Scientology (baddum-tsst) |

@Allison
Question: If you have to do a new Kaiba personality analysis would you think differently about some aspects today? By the way I think you did a good job with the analysis back then. :) |

Yes, I think there are some things I would change and add on. This was done two years ago, so some of my opinions on him have changed, but not by much.

Mhm, I never wrote something like a personality analysis of Kaiba, but this might be interesting, especially to see if my opinoin will change within the next months/years.
May I ask you what you see differently today? Curiosity... |

Hmmm... Maybe some sexual things. I'm a bit more open minded than I was before about his relationships with people and his ability to keep them, but not so much that I feel like rewriting the damn thing.

No need to rewrite anything.
Yeah, I thought that his sex life changed the most. I'm still unsure what I think about his sexuality etc. Sure, I have my headcanon, but I also try to find a decent answer which is more canon...and I have no idea why. |

I don't think he's gay. If anything, he's straight or bi-sexual. In canon, he had some sexually risque KC posters out in town, and knowing what a control freak he is over his company, I bet it was his idea. Also, the uniforms women wore there in Season 0... And the fact that his ancient self was a straight male in love with a woman. Kaiba also treats the female characters on the show /much/ better as long as they don't threat his dueling.
I think he's straight. Most males are. |

Oh yeah, there's a lot of different Kaiba's alright. The only thing they have in common are the name & the secret name they dare not say aloud....Cardf**ker.
I'm still working on the original manga, & I'm not seeing how a traumatic past could possibly redeem his evilness. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF PSYCHO KAIBA: ---------------------------------------- *Invite over a bunch of kid you want to murder for daring to be better at games than you. Try to kill any friends or family that show up along the way. *Allow equally psychotic little brother to try to poison guests. *Invite guests to candy coated death trap you personally funded. *Allow guests to know that you are responsible for bankrupting companies solely to get playing cards, & that you drove many businessmen to suicide, including your adoptive father. *Give elderly man a heart attack while millions of children root for the villain. *Destroy a priceless piece of memorabilia from a friend. *Hire professional assassins to electrocute teenagers. (The assassins probably died). *Have butler try to electrocute them. (The butler is probably dead). *Try to chop of guests' hands with guillotine. *Tell the group you've hired an axe murderer who will slit a toddler's throat if they don't play his games. *Handcuff a teenager & a toddler to a well filled with tar, dangling weapons, & a murderer. (This assassin gets the glory of dying in hot tar while on fire). *Lock guests in Holodeck-looking room & try to crush them in a giant game of Tetris. *Bet against your psychotic little brother & call him a loser, but don't discourage his love of violent retribution. *Make sure little brother is watching when you push the "sensation of death" button on him, but only after you remind him that he's annoying & a loser. One thing I don't understand is how exactly was putting someone in a realm where he would experience himself being rip apart by monsters for 24 hours was suppose to make him a better person. Up to that time Kaiba was suppose to be a one off villian and his crime? He stole a card. I don't think takahashi depicted the part where Kaiba was being tortured but I imagine it was quite an experience. Also in the manga his character is retcon. So for whatever reason Kaiba was a 16 yr old billionaire genius at the same public school as people like Tristan and Joey. To bad that the card game fanboys kept bugging him to make more card game duels. I read that originally Kaiba was going to challenge the pharoah to a grand assortment of games.

Brilliant post, btw. I really enjoyed reading it and several of the comments.
I have almost always thought of Kaiba as asexual. A lot of it is nurture (if one can even remotely call it that) rather than nature. As suggested by many here, Kaiba's experiences have left him essentially a repressed shell of a man. Aside from anger and (potentially false) pride, he shows precious little by way of emotion. When he does, it is painful and will either shut him down or drive him to desperate gambits. Essentially, he may be the most human of them all. |

I do have a question. What if a girl didn't mind the scars and actually thought they were sexy? I am just wondering.

number 1: what scars?
number 2: there are also people who want to be his friends and he doesn't care about them either, so why should he care about the girl? I think it depends on her personality. |

The scars from his stepfather's abuse that are on his body.

Congratulations TC. You made me register so I can post in this topic.
Anyways I like to ask one thing...since we know Kaiba won't stay healthy in a relationship (at least in a long term one), how would you feel about Kaiba adopting a kid? We are talking about maybe 5 or 6? The way I see it,I think Kaiba knows he won't live forever and neither will Mokuba. In a way,I would think he'll want someone to continue the business. I also like to note about what Kaiba did in Gx, the sending his cards to space. I always think Kaiba as"for the kids" type. Think...what sorta of contest who will appeal to most? Children. I betcha old Kaiba wants to help a kid realize their dreams. |

I have a hard time thinking of GX as canon. Either way, I think that it's more likely Seto would pass the company onto Mokuba. The kid is very well adjusted, given the circumstances, and he may well end up with a family.
